Mixed Media 1 offers students an even more comprehensive art experience with additional explorations in primarily 2D media such as painting, drawing, printmaking, and more. Students will be continuing to gain confidence and proficiency working with a variety of media, learn about the history, analysis, and interpretation of art, and practice skills that will provide them success in future middle school and high school art courses.
Supply List (to be brought to class daily):
1. A pencil
2. An eraser
3. 1 inch binder
4. A notebook
All supplies are due in class by Monday, Aug. 26th, or points may be deducted from grade.
Class Guidelines/Rules For Success:
·Respect: The classroom, the supplies, each other!!
·Come to class prepared and on time.
·No food, drinks, or electronics.
·Clean up after yourself
·Participate often and try your best!
Failure to follow any given rule will result in one or more of the following consequences:
1. Verbal Warning
2. Written Warning (to be sent home and signed by a parent)
3. Afterschool Detention
4. Office Referral
Goals for students in Mixed Media 1:
·Continue to develop a foundation of varied art skills, techniques, and concepts.
·Produce, discuss, and write about their own art and that of others.
·Establish an art journal (notebook and binder) for the purpose of generating ideas, taking notes, analyzing historical/professional examples, and collecting in class materials.
·Produce and maintain a portfolio of the works throughout the course.
·Learn proper studio practices and uses of media.
Grading Categories:
·Participation (working each day, non-graded studio practices, cleanup procedures) - 30%
·Projects (final grade for completed work, rubric based) – 50%
·Information (tests, quizzes, documentation, critiques, writings, etc.) – 20%
